Selected Projects

My research interests are board, encompassing, but not limited to, human-computer interaction, human-AI interaction, virtual reality, and augmented reality. Here, I will showcase some of my past work demos. If you find any of it insightful, please feel free to discuss and contact me.

Virtual Reality

ChemistryVR: Virtual Reality Chemistry Experiment Simulator

These images are screenshots and photographs from this project, 2022.

Experiments play a crucial role in chemistry education, yet they often require extensive equipment, ample space, and pose potential safety hazards. Virtual Reality (VR) offers an innovative solution to these challenges through immersive and interactive simulations. In response, we developed a virtual laboratory aligned with the ninth-grade chemistry curriculum from the People's Education Press in China. This system encompasses safety training and detailed tutorials, allowing students to engage with interactive simulations and observe realistic experimental phenomena in a secure environment. By practicing chemistry experiments in VR, students can avoid dangerous and unforeseen outcomes resulting from experimental mistakes. Our system provides a risk-free method that effectively facilitates experiential and practice-oriented learning in chemistry. Furthermore, it seamlessly integrates theoretical knowledge with practical applications, closely following the official textbook. This comprehensive approach enables students to transition smoothly from theory to practice, deepening their understanding of chemistry concepts. As a result, students are better equipped for both standardized tests and real-world laboratory situations. Please refer to the demo video I uploaded on YouTube.

Augmented Reality

Blending Social Interaction Realms: Harmonizing Online and Offline Interactions through Augmented Reality

These images are screenshots and photographs from this project, 2023.

Online social media has redefined human interaction, yet often at the expense of local engagement. To bridge this gap, we explored the innovative use of Augmented Reality (AR) to enhance location-specific interactions. We developed ARMessageBoard, a pioneering prototype that integrates AR with the user's surroundings to create virtual message boards. This approach aims to enrich the local context often overlooked by digital platforms. In our study with 15 participants, we demonstrated that combining AR with social media could better integrate virtual and real-world interactions, offering a new dimension to socio-digital exchanges. Please refer to the demo video I uploaded on YouTube.
